The War that Never Ended

photo of boy sitting at Vietnam War Memorial and video title The War That Never Ended

This video introduces health care, social service, school health, mental health and other professionals to the culture of Vietnam veterans and the clinical issues that make these families unique. While the veterans themselves may have service-connected disabilities, it is a little known fact that many also have one or more children with disabilities who many not be receiving necessary services. The tape reviews the physical and mental health disabilities frequently observed in Vietnam veterans' children and presents strategies for effective provision of care. Recent legislation awarding benefits to those children with Spina Bifida is described along with information about accessing these benefits. The purpose of this tape and the accompanying materials is to decrease the service gaps that currently exist for this underserved population.
